Chris Uejio Chris is a PhD student in the Nelson Institute for Environmental Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. How the physical environment influences re-emerging infectious disease and environmental health outcomes is the unifying theme of his work. Detecting environment and health signatures in complex health processes requires perspectives and approaches from multiple disciplines and institutions. He works with social, behavioral, public health scientists and engineers on heat waves, mosquito transmitted diseases like West Nile Virus and dengue, and the safety of swimming beaches. Chris practices stakeholder-driven science and works collaboratively with public health decision makers and natural resource managers to develop research questions and appropriate management tools and products. Understanding consistent environment and public health relationships may help stakeholders target education and interventions and potentially predict outbreaks. |
