Clara is currently working towards a Masters degree in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development at the Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. For her research project she is studying the relationship between Dengue Fever and Climatic Factors in Valle de Aburrá- Colombia under the advisement of Dr. Jonathan Patz.

She holds a Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Universidad de Antioquia - Colombia, her home country. Clara's previous experience is mainly with Wildlife and infectious diseases. She has worked in several projects involving the National Wildlife Health Center, the U.S Department of Agriculture, University of Wisconsin and Universidad de Antioquia. Recently, she worked for the Malaria Vaccine and Drug Development Center, and for CIMDER (Multidisciplinary Research Center for Development) at Universidad del Valle - Colombia. At CIMDER she was part of the research team for the project “Controlling Malaria in Andean Region Borders”, an initiative of Organismo Andino de Salud ( Health Andean Organization)

Currently, Clara lives in Madison where she enjoys biking, hiking and skiing during winter. At home, she loves to explore Colombia's country-side and relate with locals from small communities.
