About the Atlas of the Biosphere

The Atlas of the Biosphere was created as a Masters Thesis project of the University of Wisconsin's Nelson Institute Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE). The goal is to provide information about the environment and human interactions with the environment. We make make every effort to distribute the data as freely as possible and provide original source information for any data for which distribution is not allowed. Due to funding constraints, we do not have anyone actively updating the atlas at this time. If you have any questions regarding a particular dataset, please contact the original author of that dataset.

Enjoy our atlas, we designed it with users of all backgrounds in mind. We certainly hope that professors, teachers, students, and enthusiasts will use our website to its fullest extent.
